Introduction
Rift is a Bitcoin trading protocol with best in class capital efficiency and security.
Unlike traditional cross chain solutions that rely on multi-sigs or staking, Rift uses hardware-based security (Intel TDX running in a data center) to enforce escrow and release funds. This means Rift has:
- The best rates for users — Deep liquidity and best rates on popular routes like ETH↔BTC, USDC↔BTC, and cbBTC↔BTC with taker fees starting at 0.1%.
- Self custody cross chain swaps — User stay in full control of their funds. It’s impossible for Rift to steal or freeze user funds.
- Minimal attack surface — There is no validator set to corrupt, issued wrapped tokens that could implode at any time, or large TVL honeypots to exploit. Funds are only at risk during the swapping window (~20 minutes).
- 100% open source protocol code — Anyone can audit our protocol code to verify how it works.
